Julia Willmann worked as a narrative film editor and creative producer before starting a freelance career as a dramatist in 2010. She advises production companies and auteur filmmakers on developing series, documentaries and narrative films, teaches at the German Film and Television Academy in Berlin and the International Film School Cologne and supports cinema projects funded by the German Federal Ministry for Culture and Media. Alongside her work as a dramatist, Julia Willmann writes prose. Her debut novel, “was es ist” (“what it is”), was published in 2017, while a book about the writing process appeared in 2020.
