Güzin Kar

Porträt Güzin Kar
Güzin Kar

Güzin Kar is a screenwriter, director and columnist and comes from Zurich. Since graduating from Film Academy Baden-Württemberg, she has written numerous scripts for German and Swiss productions, including “Lieber Brad” (“Dear Brad”) and the classic German children’s film “die wilden Hühner” (“Wild Chicks”) by Cornelia Funke. She has also directed films such as “Fliegende Fische” (“Flying Fish”), a mother-daughter story where the roles are reversed. As well as working on films, she writes columns on sociopolitical issues. Her “Gender Studies” about “Paarungsgestörte und Beziehungsbastler” (people in dysfunctional relationships) achieved cult status and the resulting books became bestsellers. Güzin Kar is currently a screenwriter and director on the series “Seitentriebe” (“Monogamish”) for SRF. The series’ hugely successful first season aired in 2018. Kar has received multiple awards for her work, including the Saarland Premier’s Award at the Max Ophüls Festival for “Fliegende Fische” and the European Script Award for “Seitentriebe”.  → Güzin Kar’s website
