Cyril Schäublin (born 1984 in Zurich) studied sinology in Zurich and Beijing and film direction in Berlin at the Deutsche Film- und Fernsehakadmie Berlin (DFFB). His first feature film “Those Who Are Fine” (2017) premiered in Locarno and Rotterdam. The press reviewed the film enthusiastically: “A bitter criticism of capitalist forms of existence” (Neue Zürcher Zeitung, NZZ), “The Switzerland Tourism Bureau will be less than thrilled” (The Hollywood Reporter), “A delightful, dry comedy” (The Village Voice). The film was invited to the MoMA in New York and received several international awards, including the main prize at the 72nd Edinburgh Film Festival. In 2018 the film was nominated for the Swiss Film Prize and the European Film Prize. He lives and works in Zurich.
