    Transfer

The transfer and communication of knowledge, awareness and practices with regard to sustainability in the arts, design and culture are central to the work of the Sustainability Dossier. Bringing sustainable approaches, ideas and projects into society helps raise awareness of today’s pressing ecological and environmental challenges. As forms of human expression, the arts and design have the potential to convey complex inter-relationships in a comprehensible way and to awaken emotions. As such, they contribute to making sustainability tangible and relevant for a broader audience.

      • Sustainability Events

Our events explore sustainability in the context of the arts and design in a participatory and practice-oriented way. Instead of lectures and project presentations, sessions focus on creating events (happenings) and experiences related to sustainability. Events showcase how the creative disciplines taught and researched at ZHdK approach sustainability from a practical artistic and design perspective and how they enter into dialogue with society, politics and the environment. The aim is to make artistic and design strategies and practices visible and tangible.

      • Sustainability Thinking Points

How to put sustainability in a nutshell? Probably not at all because it is a complex, broad and constantly evolving field. Our Thinking Points encourage ZHdK members and visitors to consider sustainability concerns and issues at and beyond the Toni Campus. They also seek to stimulate reflection and provide practical tips.

Contemplative, critical, practical and philosophical Thinking Points will appear and disappear on walls, doors and in more hidden areas around campus. Each thinking point consists of a concise, eye-catching statement and a commentary. QR codes enable access to tips, knowledge contributions or interactive content.

This project started from the desire to implement a concept for low-threshold sustainability education in everyday campus life. Our Thinking Points are designed to playfully invite sustainable thinking and action across campus and to make ZHdK’s multi-layered sustainability efforts visible and tangible.

This project launched in the 2022 autumn semester.
