Institute for Art Education
The Institute for Art Education IAE has been dissolved in February 2019. Currently, a new model of research is being developed in the domain of Art Education at the ZHdK, emphasizing the transfer between research and teaching. Thereby, the Research in Art Education ZHdK is newly established.
Constitution of Research in Art Education ZHdK
In the context of a structural re-organization of the Department of Cultural Analysis and Education as well as differing constellations, the positioning of Art Education within ZHdK is being reconsidered and developed. The domain of Art Education at ZHdK entails the Bachelor Art Education, the Master Art Education Teaching Art, the Research in Art Education as well as the Joint-Master didactics in art (in cooperation with the PH Zรผrich) and the PhD program didactics of art and design (in cooperation with the PH Zรผrich and the ABK Stuttgart).
Within a new model, Research in Art Education further develops the disciplinary branch of Art Education, promotes juniors to this field, follows and develops the state of the art and is visible within the national as well as the international arena.
The transfer between research and teaching and the close collaboration and embedding in the study branches of Art Education ZHdK thereby are crucial.
The research directives within Art Education are structured in three main realms:
a) Subject didactical developments and knowledge specific to art teaching,
b) Artistic teaching and methods,
c) Sustainability within the practice of Art Education.
Thereby, the change within the professional field and the contextual conditionings, the new developments of media culture, challenges pertaining to societal change and the related questioning of meaning making, as well as art education as a scientific field are at the centre of attention.
The responsibility for leading the process of development and for profiling and positioning Research in Art Education ZHdK in the new model structure established is with Gitta Bertram (until end of June), Heinrich Lรผber, Anna Schรผrch and Peter Truniger. The implementation, coordination and further development lies with the core team composed by Anna Schรผrch, Judith Tonner and Sophie Vรถgele. Both the teams are supported by Eunjeong Gross.
