    • Please step back - Zurücktreten bitte!

More participation through rationale cultural mediation – Mehr kulturelle Teilhabe durch rationale Kulturvermittlung (publication in German)

Wanda Wieczorek with a contribution by Markus Rieger-Ladich (2018).

Art and culture are there for every one. However, offers in this domain only reach a segregated group of people. Why is this so? And how can we try to change this?

The publication tries to address these questions. On the basis of a practice-oriented project conducted in the field from which the difficulties of a participation and a contribution in the decision-making process clearly emerged, it asks for a »rationale« art education and cultureal mediation – free from any idealizations and close to reality and practice with an open gaze for its limitations and possibilities.

The theoretical grounding for these considerations is provided within education science by Markus Rieger-Ladich. In his contribution he shows how pertinent the concepts by sociologist Pierre Bourdieu are for the understanding and discussion of participatory processes.
