Would you like to improve your German or learn another language? There are various options for attending suitable language courses at ZHdK and in Zurich.
International students at ZHdK can attend a German course run by the Mobility Office. In collaboration with the Benedict Language School, an intensive course is offered two weeks before the start of the semester for students with no prior knowledge of German. During the semester, weekly courses are held for levels A1.2 to B2 (September to December and February to June respectively).
Students or staff at ZHdK can also attend selected language courses at the Language Center of the University of Zurich and ETH Zurich. You can find the current course programme on the Language Center’s website.
If you’re looking for a German course outside ZHdK, the City of Zurich’s German course database will help you find a suitable option. You can use various search criteria to find a course that meets your needs.
If you’d like to learn Swiss German, the Migros Club School, amongst others, offers relevant courses.
If you need to provide proof of a recognized language certificate for your studies and are already in Switzerland, you can register for the relevant exam at the Benedict Language School or the ZHAW. If you’d like to sit the language exam abroad before starting your studies, you’ll find an overview of exam centres online.
Please note that the ZHdK does not cover the costs of the language exam.
