Content

There is plenty of flexibility to tailor the specialized didactics tuition to the formulated objectives. The “CAS Specialization in Music Education” includes 14 hour-long lessons of specialized didactics tuition per academic year and CAS. The lessons may be allocated to different lecturers (subject to the agreement of the Head of Programme), e.g. specialized didactics in combination with voice training, rhythm training, arrangement, media use, and improvisation. Additional music education modules (group courses) or from the programmes of the summer and winter school are also attended. The individual learning content is defined during the admission procedure. The “CAS Specialization in Music Education” degree programme is studied independently.

Programme objectives

In the CAS Specialization in Music Education, the learning objectives and learning content are put together individually and set out in a binding concept. After completing this degree programme, students are able to
–  create, implement and document their individual profile in music education;
–  use the skills associated with their existing profession with more confidence

Structure of the degree programme/study periods

The CAS degree programme runs for two semesters. It starts in the autumn or spring semester. The CAS comprises the following:

  • Individual specialized didactics tuition (14 × 60 min., dates by individual arrangement)
  • Interdisciplinary intervision in the group, 4 x 30 minutes on Saturday mornings
  • Five work experience placements (dates by individual arrangement)
  • Two freely selectable modules from the range of courses offered by Continuing Education Music (group courses)

It is essential to organize a practice student for the didactics lessons and the intervision lessons before the start of the course. This student receives regular individual lessons and agrees that videos of the lessons will be made and discussed as part of the further training.
