    Sustainability Dossier Funding Program

The ZHdK supports both disciplinary and interdisciplinary projects by students as well as initiatives from research and teaching in the field of sustainability. These projects demonstrate the relevance of art and design in practice, theory, and current discourse and are characterized by innovative, forward-looking, and exploratory approaches. The aim is to test knowledge and skills in applied projects and thereby contribute to the sustainable transformation of society and the environment.

sustainship: Our Support and Funding Platform

Funded by U Change, sustainship is a funding and support platform at ZHdK dedicated to developing and promoting impactful sustainable action. The platform gathers knowledge and needs and creates new educational formats to address the challenges of implementing social and ecological change from the perspective of the arts and design.

sustainship brings together stakeholders and key issues, as well as funds relevant projects. It enables students to develop their own approaches and offers them appropriate support and funding opportunities.

Between 2021 and 2024, ZHdK participated in the SCNAT U Change program with the project “Sustainship – Sustainability in the Arts and Design.” One part focused on sustainability at ZHdK in research, teaching, outreach, and transfer, while the second part provided annual support for specific student and faculty projects on sustainability at ZHdK. In the recently published report, we summarize Sustainship: its initial situation, the activities carried out, the results achieved, and the key insights gained.
