Musico-physiological consultation / musicians' medicine advice

Students and lecturers of ZHdK Music receive free musico-physiological consultation / musicians' medicine advice on task-specific questions and symptoms, including posture, movement, ergonomics, breathing, coordination, confidence on stage, stress management, learning and practice strategies. The advice is also available to methodology or didactic groups linked to music education. The musico-physiological consultation is provided by specially trained experts in music physiology and is backed by medically trained staff. Moreover, referral to external specialist hospitals, doctors and therapists is also possible.

The coordination for the consultation team Music Physiology consisting of Oliver Margulies, Isabel Bösch, Judith Buchmann, Mischa Greull and Lina Schwob is taken over by Dr. med. Horst Hildebrandt.

Advice on ergonomics 

ZHdK provides all employees with ergonomic counselling at the office workplace.

For people from outside ZHdK

The course is aimed at professional musicians, music teachers, music students and amateur musicians.

Content

Issues and symptoms, including those affecting posture, movement, ergonomics, breathing, coordination, confidence on stage, stress management and strategies for teaching, learning and practising. Referral to other medical and therapeutic professionals as required.

Counselling team

Lecturers in Music Physiology at ZHdK, graduates of the continuing education degree programme in Music Physiology at ZHdK from advanced level onwards. Places are allocated by Horst Hildebrandt.

Costs

CHF 180 per hour
CHF 140 per hour for music schools certified in music physiology and their teachers or students
