    Doctoral programme

A postgraduate programme was introduced at the Department of Performing Arts and Film (DDK) in 2016 as part of a pilot project to establish the third cycle unique to universities of the arts. The programme divides into two parts: a fellowship programme for work on an artistic development project and a joint doctoral programme with the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz, among others, as part of which students can take doctoral studies in artistic research with a focus on theatre. Students must have achieved an above-average grade in a Masterโ€™s degree in the performing arts or in film, demonstrate experience of independent artistic work and successfully complete the relevant application procedure in order to be accepted onto either part. Regular discussions are held between participants in both parts of the programme as part of the DDK's postgraduate forum.
