Préludes are pre-concert talks held in conjunction with the Tonhalle Gesellschaft and followed by an orchestral concert. The composers are usually present and are able to comment on their work about to be performed in the main concert, and to report on their creative activities. The interpretation of sample pieces by music students sheds light on the work and working method of composers. There is also an opportunity for interpretive artists to perform before an attentive audience within a professional setting outside of the classroom.
