The Long Night – Sounds | Structures | Situations has been taking place at ZHdK since 2014. While the first few years were organized by students, since 2020 the event has been coordinated by the Studio for Contemporary Music (SZM). The programme for the Long Night, which is put together on an uncurated basis, reflects the diversity of the projects being developed at ZHdK and the genuine interests of the artists. The freedom from having to conform to a theme or a predetermined discourse opens up the opportunity to show exactly what is closest to one's heart. The audience at the Long Night can discover a wide range of over 50 concerts, performances and installations, from quiet to extroverted, historical to contemporary, classical to experimental genres. The Long Night takes place once a year in May.
