AI and computer technologies are driving a profound transformation of our media landscape and communication culture. Language models have become an established part of artistic and creative practice. Now more than ever, there is a need for skilled writers who can combine their individual writing skills and critical judgement with an understanding of the mechanisms of AI-based co-creation.

The daily (over)production of content, actions and meanings in digital networks and on platforms is increasing the need for publicists who negotiate, test and implement sustainable and relevant forms of publishing.

At the same time, the mediation of art and culture is taking on a new significance. As a social practice, it is becoming crucial for our future: it generates new forms of public sphere and fosters a critical and constructive culture of debate. Cultural mediators focus on dialogical interaction, reinforce ambivalence as an expression of plurality, and facilitate experiences, not least in digital and physical spaces.

Artistic authorship takes different forms within the practical fields (writing, mediation, publishing and research) of the Master’s Major in Cultural Publishing. In-depth specialist skills and individual positioning enable targeted adaptability and/or the ability to transition into various professional fields:

    • Artistic and freelance authorship
    • Cultural and art mediation
    • Communication and public relations in cultural institutions
    • Journalism (editorial and publishing work)
    • Cultural journalism (print media, radio/TV, internet)
    • Curation and moderation (festivals, symposia, think tanks)
    • Project management and production activities in the cultural sector (from project applications and funding to implementation)
    • Management roles in cultural institutions
    • Teaching and research
