Assessment of Entry-Level Competencies

Minor Career & Transfer

Certain entry-level competencies are required as a condition of participation in this minor and are assessed as described below. Information on which majors must complete the assessment can be found in the “Career & Transfer” Minor description (PDF Download).

Entry-Level Competencies

In accordance with the Minor Allocation Regulations, students must undergo an aptitude assessment to demonstrate that they possess the required entry-level competencies: 

  • Able to demonstrate a basic knowledge of the music business  
  • Able to demonstrate a recognizable entrepreneurial mindset 

Aptitude Assessment

The Entry-Level Assessment comprises two parts: 

  • Review of the submitted concept: 
    Please compose a brief description (maximum one A4 page) outlining the skills you aim to develop and the steps you intend to take to achieve them. Upload the document to the Minor Registration Tool in PDF format. 
  • Interview 
    The interview will be conducted via Zoom and will take approximately 15 minutes. The discussion will involve a review of the submitted documents, a discussion of the motivation behind choosing the Minor, and a conversation about past works and experiences. 

Aptitude Assessment Criteria

The following criteria are used to assess whether students possess the entry-level competencies in accordance with the Minor Allocation Regulations and the Degree Programme Regulations:  

  • Ability to develop (artistic and entrepreneurial potential)
  • Independent concept
  • Specific professional competence (musical-artistic abilities and skills)
  • Reflective ability and self-assessment
  • Communication skills and social competence

  • Minor start in autumn semester
    For DMU students: Calendar week 18
    For students of all other departments: 26–30 May
