Professional fields
With the completion of the Teaching Art specialization, students gain the initial degree required for their professional objective of teaching art in the school environment. The subsequent Master Teaching Art at ZHdK leads to the Diploma «Lehrdiplom für Maturitätsschulen, Fach Bildende Kunst» (Secondary Level II). Alternatively, the course continues at a university of teacher education in combination with at least one further subject for the Upper Secondary School Teaching Diploma Secondary Level I.
The degree in the Aesthetic-Cultural Education specialization is vocational and prepares students to work with children, young people and adults in a diverse cultural educational landscape. There are employment opportunities in a wide variety of professional fields, which include:
- Teaching work in the leisure and continuing education areas for adults
- Aesthetic-cultural work with children and young people in the pre-school and extracurricular areas
- Art and cultural education in the museum environment and in other institutions
- Work in social institutions with craft courses (asylum centres, homes, etc.)
- Responsibility for craft courses in workshops and studios for people with special learning requirements
The Master Art Education, Critical Social Practice in Art Education at ZHdK enables critical approaches to art education in institutional and non-formal professional settings.
The Cultural Publishing and Curatorial Studies Major’s programmes offer two exciting paths to consolidate your own educational position following the Bachelor of Arts in Art Education with a specialization in publishing or curating.
