ZHdK Student Advisory Network

Your guide to studying in the major-minor model

Hello you. Welcome to the ZHdK Student Advisory Network. It’s good to have you here. We can tell you all about the new minor courses at ZHdK. We support you while orienting yourself within the new study model and accompany you on your study progress. We show you how to find your way around the Major-Minor model, which combinations are possible – and above all: what there is to discover.
In addition, we are here for you, if you ever have a concern and you’re not sure where to go with it. We are well connected and know the right person to contact.

The Major-Minor model is the new study programme at ZHdK. The advantage: You can put together a large part of your studies yourself. At the same time, more options also mean more questions. That’s why we at the Student Advisory Network, a network of advisors and ZHdK students, are here to show you how to find what you’re looking for.

See you soon at ZHdK?

Have you ever thought about studying at ZHdK? If you’d like to know more about how to study here and what we offer, we at the Student Advisory Network should be your first point of call.

First step: Send us a message or drop in during our opening hours. Describe briefly what you have done in your life so far and which areas of study at ZHdK interest you. That is, if you already know. If you don’t have any clear ideas yet and would just prefer to get some inspiration from us, that’s fine as well.

We’ll get back to you to set up an appointment. Feel free to come by and have a look at our campus. If you don’t have much time, we can set up a Zoom meeting instead.

Minor Advice

You are choosing your first minor? We are happy to help you with that.

Have you already chosen a major and been accepted for it? Here you can find out how to find the right minor for you. We will help you plan your course of study and find the right contact persons for your questions.

First step: Send us a message or simply drop by during our opening hours without an appointment. Briefly describe what you are studying in your major and which subject areas interest you in your minor.

You can also easily book an appointment using our booking tool. There you can book consultations on site or via video call.

You can ask our advisors any questions you may have. They are experts at finding answers. Answers to questions such as which combinations are possible and which are not. Or where there are admission requirements.

And if they can't find an answer, they will find exactly the right person in their network who can help you.

Peer2Peer

You know which major you are interested in and would like to talk to someone who is currently studying it?

At the P2P experience exchange, you will meet students who will share their personal insights and experiences about their major with you. At this meeting, you can ask questions on an equal footing and gain valuable insights into the programme – directly from those who are currently experiencing it themselves.

First, we would be happy to meet with you to clarify all the facts and then connect you with a student for an exchange of experiences. You can book an initial appointment with us here.

As this is a pilot project, the following degree programmes are currently involved:
BA Design, Cast / Audiovisual Media, Trends & Identity as well as Visual Communication
BA Art Education
MA & BA Music, Profile Composition / Theory / Sound Design / Sound Engineering

Group Workshops

There are questions that are individually linked to your needs – and there are questions that occur regularly. Or to put it another way: there are topics that keep us and you busy again and again. That’s why we collect the most frequently asked questions and put them into an advisory service for groups. We, or those people with the most knowledge in this area, will prepare relevant content for you. You’ll also get to know other students who are dealing with similar issues, and have the opportunity to discuss your questions with them on-site.

Drop us a message if you have a topic you think we should include for group workshops.

We look forward to your input.
