Network, qualification, information and advice

The Career Center Music offers ZHdK music students a whole host of career-related content, enabling them to embark upon their professional life with success. It acts as the interface between study and career. The focus is on the pooling and contextualization of useful information, on job placement and network services, as well as on a course to acquire complementary skills in professional practice.

    With a few exceptions, the courses offered by the Career Center Music are open to all undergraduate students and staff of ZHdK. Registration via electronic enrollment system.

Master’s courses & competitions

  • Master’s courses in music

    ZHdK music students regularly have the opportunity to work with established luminaries from the music scene. These events are open to the general public as a rule. Active participation is reserved for ZHdK students.

  • Competitions

    Every year, the Department of Music at Zurich University of the Arts organizes four competitions exclusively for its students. The prize money amounts to as much as CHF 33,000.

  • Rehearsals

    In the field of classical performance, orchestra places worldwide are often filled on the basis of rehearsals. To prepare our students for this, ZHdK offers semester-based psycho-physiological training in playing and singing, audition boot camp and courses on learning strategies.

    Every year, the Department of Music at the Zurich University of the Arts organizes a large-scale rehearsal for students playing orchestra instruments. Leading voices from Swiss professional orchestras give us feedback, an opportunity to practice in this format and also to work on profiling and improved networking within the Swiss orchestral landscape.

Library

An online service platform for career-related information: documentation, links and check-lists on topics such as being in an association, professional organizations, applications, accounting, tax and insurance issues, project financing, funding opportunities, music law and business start-up.

Cultural entrepreneurship

Z-Kubator

The Z-Kubator supports ZHdK members who want to contribute to the cultural and creative industry with independent projects, be it in the form of non-commercial cultural and design projects or with start-ups.
As an experimental learning laboratory, the Z-Kubator gives users the space to develop and test new business and operating models.

ZHdK music YouTube channel

In a highly competitive music market and in these times of social media, the presentation and communication of individual productivity is of paramount importance. Promoting and supporting the acquisition of skills in this regard is of great importance for the Career Center Music. We do this both through the courses we provide and a range of infrastructural and communicative services. Our phenomenal technical facilities and state-of-the-art technology allow us to record and present a selection of the huge output of high-quality student productions. The ZHdK music YouTube channel serves as a showcase for current live performances and as an archive for past broadcasts.
