    Dr Eva-Maria Fahmüller

    Porträt von Eva-Maria Fahmüller

Dr Eva-Maria Fahmüller studied German and Philosophy in Marburg and Berlin, Germany. In 1999, she completed her doctorate on post-modern trends in German literature in the period around 1990.
Since 2000, she has been working as a freelance dramatist and has advised various production companies, including action concept, Kinderfilm, Drife, Ostlicht, Looks Film & TV and tellfilm, as well as numerous authors.
As a dramatist, she supported the development of the documentary drama series “Krieg der Träume” (“Clash of Futures”) (CIVIS Media Prize, nominations: Grimme-Preis, German-French Journalist Award, Award of the German Academy for Television in the Screenplay category).

Since 2006, Eva-Maria Fahmüller has also worked as a lecturer (including at Film University Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF, 2013–2019; and as a mentor for the dffb Film Network Berlin, 2018/2019; and for various TV broadcasters).
She also teaches at the Master School Drehbuch for screenwriting, which she became the owner of in 2009. There she organizes various training and continuing education courses for screenwriters and material developers (such as the full-time programme to become a film and TV writer lasting just under four months), taught by around 20 lecturers and guests from the industry.

She chairs the board of the film and TV dramaturgy association Verband für Film- und Fernsehdramaturgie e.V. (VeDRA) and is joint organizer of the FilmStoffEntwicklung conference for film material developers, where her responsibilities include organizing the “Neue Dramaturgien” (“New Dramaturgy”) series of talks. In 2014, and from 2017 to 2019, she was a member of the German Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media (BKM) judging panel for the Deutscher Drehbuchpreis screenwriting award.

She explores contemporary themes relating to dramaturgy in lectures, events and essays. For example, she has been examining the depiction of psychological disorders in film and television for many years. Her book “Neue Dramaturgien – Zwischen Monomythos, Storyworld und Serienboom” (“New Dramaturgy – Between Monomyth, Storyworld and Series Boom”) was published in November 2017. In this book, Eva-Maria Fahmüller addresses current series dramaturgy and the impact of globalization and digitalization on how we understand stories.
