Immersive Arts Space.

The Immersive Arts Space (IAS) is a university-wide art and technology lab at ZHdK. As a hub for transdisciplinary research and creation, IAS connects art, design, technology, and society across research, teaching, and production. Combining fields from computer science and performance studies to sociology, IAS explores critical approaches to emerging technologies through artistic and design practice.

News & Events

Im Immersive Arts Space werden zahlreiche Veranstaltungen durchgeführt, darunter öffentliche Vorträge, Diskussionsrunden, Performances und immersive Installationen.

Education

Currently the IAS  The Immersive Arts Space offers two minors as part of the university-wide major-minor programme from September 2024: The Immersive Arts Space Basic Minor and the Immersive Arts Advanced Minor. Research

The research focus at the Immersive Arts Space aims to promote artistic, technological and social-cultural innovation in the context of a critical technical practice in art and design. The IAS enables challenging research to the status quo within the umbrella of immersive arts. That includes paradigmatic technologies like sensors, machine learning, as well as capture systems and their application areas in XR, AI and interactive media systems.
With this broad research field, the Immersive Arts Space aims to situate itself as a network hub within the academic field of Immersive Arts, in Switzerland and internationally.

Production

As a hub for research-creation, the Immersive Arts Space tackles a multifaceted challenge by pursuing and promoting an integrated program of transdisciplinary inquiry in and across research, teaching, service and production. The team members have their professional roots in film, game design, interaction design, music, computer science and engineering, and often members have a background in more than one discipline. The IASpace is part of the research cluster of the Digitalization Initiative of the Zurich Higher Education Institutions (DIZH).
