    Fellows 2019

    • Romy Rüegger: Artistic Research – as a field of practice in Art Education. Dialogic actualisation and perspectives.

«The fellowship looks at how notions of artistic research are used by different practitioners in the overlapping fields of artistic practice, knowledge production and education with an emphasis on social, ecological and communal questions at art academies. The research is also concerned with assembling teaching materials for the students fostering an understanding of artistic research as intersectional, critical, horizontal and collaborative with relevance for the field of art education and pedagogy. The research is underpinned by intersectional texts and a reading by Sylvia Wynter about ethical questions in higher education institutions, and by artistic practices about listening and methods drawing from performance and performativity. »

    Promoting junior staff

Encouraging junior researchers is an important basis for establishing and advancing the formation of educational theory and the development of Art Education as a discipline. This includes collaborating on research projects and providing advice on research and methodology, as well as mentoring. The involvement of former students is also planned within the framework of action research projects, as incorporating their practical knowledge is of central importance. We hope to be able to substantially expand the promotion of junior staff in the near future.

    Dissertation projects

Research in Art Education supports the pursuit of PhD dissertation projects in the field of Art Education. Dissertation projects can be pursued within the framework of doctoral programmes offered through the ZHdK, however they are only possible in cooperation with other universities which are entitled to award doctorates.
