Take a detour
This year’s annual show of the MA in Transdisciplinary Studies programme explores the personal and temporal situatedness of perception within a shared environment. Open from 6 to 20 June 2025, opening times: 12:00 - 20:00. Toni-Areal, room 7.F03.
About
Each of us enters a space carrying more than just our body — we bring memories, moods, histories, and assumptions. Whether consciously or not, we always take a specific perspective with us. This exhibition embraces that multiplicity and makes it visible: visitors are invited to make a deliberate choice about how they want to encounter the works presented.
As pragmatic as setting up a room to be visited by others might seem, as intricate are the temporally situated dynamics at work in this process. Beyond simply displaying artworks, the artists of this year’s show have developed a series of experimental guided or mediated Detours that open up the exhibition in unexpected ways. Each Detour offers a distinct pathway through the space, emphasizing certain aspects over others, inviting new readings, associations, and conversations.
Deours
The Detours are not linear explanations or fixed routes, but rather proposals for perception. They foreground time as a layered and mutable experience and invite visitors to think about how history is narrated, who tells it, and from which position. You may find yourself encountering the same artwork more than once — but never twice in the same way. All tours without times are permanently open.
