Field of Practice Acting compulsory modules

      • Theory

The theory modules are an integral part of the education, giving students the chance to learn to deal with scientific questions both independently and as part of a team.

      • Reflection

The โ€œreflectionโ€ modules deal with questions about the form and content of studentsโ€™ projects. On the one hand, students reflectively choose form, i.e. the material, the composition, the colours, etc., and on the other hand, they choose the contents, i.e. the image theme, motif, statements, intention, message, effect they want to put across or achieve.

      • Speech

The students professionalize their artistic speech, including singing, as well as their trained manner of speaking and acting when dealing with the media. They will be prepared to practise the diverse requirements of the media world in a speech-like manner.

      • Introductory workshop with external experts

The introductory workshop provides an impetus for progression for students to use the course rooms independently and on their own responsibility. The students use the collegial counselling interviews as time for โ€œreflectionโ€ and a โ€œboostโ€ to independently expand their leadership skills for their projects.

      • Course Room 1

The first course room acts as a project room and laboratory for the students. In a workshop with external experts, the students will address the concepts of performativity, i.e. the dynamics, materials, framings and exchange processes between actors and spectators, as well as aspects of physicality, dramaturgy and staging. In Course Room 1, students are advised by colleagues on two dates.

      • Course Room 2

A workshop with external experts will take place in Course Room 2. There is also the possibility of collective work and cooperation. Students are given a space to reflect on the course and develop their own concepts during self-study periods. There is also the chance to participate in modules of the MA in Transdisciplinary Studies and research platforms of the Institute for Performing Arts and Film taking place in autumn and to expand and deepen research skills. Another aim of the module is for students to start working on their first project or their own work.

      • Course Room 3

In Course Room 3, students put their own projects and solo performances, as well as collective works from the first or second course to the test.
Over four weeks, the students examine and deepen the collective works or solo performances in different sections and with different methods, and promote cooperation.

      • Acting colloquium

Converging and diverging/associative reflection and thus the levelling of further work objectives. Using the experience of the colloquia for further project work.

      • Cultural management

The students acquire the ability to set up their own artistic projects and learn what it means to work independently or to found and manage a limited liability company. The following four basic themes are crucial:

        1. Cultural politics and the promotion of culture
        2. Cultural management
        3. Cultural marketing and cultural education
        4. Cultural entrepreneurship
