Course content.
In this minor, you will reflect on and define your online presence as an artist or designer, i.e. your “digital self”. You will develop and design your own social media profile or artistic as well as social projects on social media platforms. The minor will inspire you to view digital social networks from a critical perspective. To round off the minor, you will implement your own small social media project, ideally based on your major studies – but this is not compulsory. The minor is aimed at students from all degree programmes.
Skills acquired in the course.
Digital storytelling, media dramaturgy basics, low-budget video and audio production with smartphones, audience development on social media.
Admissions requirements.
“Social. Media. Storytelling.” is open to all students at ZHdK and is recommended for students who already have at least one active social media profile and plan to work more professionally on social media. Specific admission requirements for the minor are checked by means of a self-declaration.

You need the following languages to take this minor:
– German: to be able to follow a discussion
– German or English: to actively participate in a verbal exchange
– German or English: to understand a text
– German or English: to write a text

The “Social. Media. Storytelling.” minor focuses on the practical use of accessible tools and techniques to produce social media content and develop their own online community. The teaching staff for the minor are lecturers of the subject area in Cast / Audiovisual Media as well as external experts from the communication, culture and media industry.

Autumn Semester:
From calendar week 38, Friday afternoons between 1pm and 5pm until calendar week 51
Minor block during calendar weeks 02–04, Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm
Spring Semester:
Minor block during calendar weeks 08–10, Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm
