    Assessment of Entry-Level Competencies

    Certain entry-level competencies are required as a condition of participation in this minor and are assessed as described below. Information on which majors must complete the assessment can be found in the PDF โ€œMore about this minorโ€.

    Entry-Level Competencies

    In accordance with the Minor Allocation Regulations, students must undergo an aptitude assessment to demonstrate that they possess the required entry-level competencies: 

    • Able to independently produce their music at a semi-professional level 
    • Able to demonstrate a knowledge of sound synthesis, recording, mixing, and mastering, as well as a quick pace to create layouts 
    • Able to express oneself in the field of composing-arranging with the means of jazz and pop

    Students who have completed the Minor in Producing Composing Music โ€“ basic are not required to undergo an aptitude assessment. They have already demonstrated that they possess the required competencies through their admission to their degree programme.

    Aptitude Assessment

    The following must be provided for the required initial skills assessment: 

    • short dossier with audio recordings of previous production work, including own composition/songwriting material of 10 minutes (Uncompressed audio files: WAV 44.1khz/24bit). Please upload the file either to Google Drive, OneDrive or DropBox and link it here.
    • A project outline (PDF) in the size of one A4 page 

    Aptitude Assessment Criteria

    The following criteria are used to assess whether students possess the entry-level competencies in accordance with the Minor Allocation Regulations and the Degree Programme Regulations:  

    • Ability to develop (artistic potential) 
    • Independence and expressiveness (artistic quality of the dossier and innovation potential) 
    • Specific professional competence (music production skills and abilities) 
    • Critical reflection skills  
    • Teamwork and communication skills
