Assessment of Entry-Level Competencies

Minor Orchestral Practice

Certain entry-level competencies are required as a condition of participation in this minor and are assessed as described below. Information on which majors must complete the assessment can be found in the “Orchestral Practice” Minor description (PDF Download).

Entry-Level Competencies

Students must be :

  • Able to demonstrate that they have won an internship for an orchestral position/conducting position as specified by the partner institution.

Aptitude Assessment

Students seeking admission to the Minor in Orchestral Practice must demonstrate their aptitude as follows: 

  • In a 10-minute interview, they must demonstrate that they have won an internship for an orchestral position/conduct conducting position as specified by the partner institution and have discussed the assignment and study plan with the with the respective major management.

Aptitude Assessment Criteria

The following criteria are used to assess whether students possess the entry-level competencies in accordance with the Minor Allocation Regulations and the Degree Programme Regulations:  

  • Proof of the internship
  • Qualification of the partner institution 
  • Feasibility in combination with the major study programme
