Programme

Course content.
The minor teaches the basics of ensemble and orchestral conducting, and thus provides an additional basis for future work in the performative or teaching field. This programme consists mainly of practical work with ensembles. Individual tuition and classroom teaching enable students to further explore the fundamentals of orchestral conducting. 

The minor, which is taught in German/English, is offered by Continuing Education Music. It is aimed at Bachelorโ€™s and Masterโ€™s students.

Skills acquired in the course.
Students who successfully complete this course have basic knowledge of baton techniques as well as orchestral scores of medium difficulty. They learn methods of rehearsal work and are able to connect their position communicatively and in collaboration with others.
They have their own artistic stance and the skill to develop it. They like to develop a collaborative position in a team environment, are able reflect on it, contextualize it and work together effectively.

Admissions requirements.
You are enrolled in a degree programme of the Department of Music.

Language skills required.
You need the following languages to take this minor:

โ€“  German or English: to actively participate in a verbal exchange
โ€“  German or English: to understand a text
โ€“  German or English: to write a text

The coordination of conducting techniques and interpretation together with interaction on an equal footing with others and reflection provide students with examples of different constellations that they will encounter in their social and professional life. 

Time structure.
For this minor, there is a contingent of individual lessons of 28 x 30 minutes and class lessons in ensemble conducting with 8 active sequences. Lesson dates and the allocation of class lessons can be planned individually and in consultation with the lecturers.
