    Student exchange Incoming

    The Department of Music is pleased to welcome up to 15 exchange or guest students each semester. In principle, students can participate in all courses and seminars in the department. Individual lessons can be offered in the major and minor subjects of their choice.

    Preparation and application

    Students from European and non-European universities may apply for limited-period admission to the Department of Music as exchange students. Applications can be submitted either within the Swiss-European Mobility Programme (analogous to ERASMUS+) or within other networks.

    Detailed information on the process for an exchange stay can be found in the Mobility Office site.

    In general, places at the Department of Music are awarded in May (for the Autumn semester) and in November (for the Spring semester).

    If you are interested in an exchange semester at the Department of Music, Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK), you are advised to take the following steps:

    1. Consult the Department of Music’s curricula and course offers.
    2. If you wish to pursue your major with a particular member of faculty, please contact this person before applying for a place.
    3. Contact your home university’s Mobility Office to ensure a bilateral exchange agreement exists with Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK).
    4. Submit your application to your home university’s Mobility Office.

    • Personal letter of application
    • Curriculum vitae
    • Letter of recommendation (from your course director or head of department)
    • Depending on your preferred course, you will need to submit audio or audiovisual evidence (DVD, CD, etc.) of your current level of education and your artistic personality.

    Should you receive a favourable reply from us, you must confirm your place by 31 May / 30 November. Confirmations of acceptance are binding.
