    Lecturer mobility

The desire to internationalize music is a contradiction in terms as music has always been and continues to be an art form that transcends the boundaries between language and culture. On the other hand, in the course of time, special traditions in music education and music practice have developed in many places and every good university has its own profile. Student mobility within the context of SEMP (Swiss European Mobility Programme) encourages student exchanges on the basis of international partnerships at institutional level. The study visits, which are usually enabled for the duration of a semester, offer students the opportunity to check their own state of knowledge, acquire new skills and โ€“ last but not least โ€“ build personal networks.

Student exchanges in the field of music are individual and therefore strongly influenced by personal factors. It is recommended to plan mobilities at least one year in advance and to find out in time to what extent personal and/or institutional connections exist at the destination. Vice versa, the Department of Music looks forward to receiving applications from students from our partner universities.

The responsible persons for International Affairs in Music at ZHdK are happy to provide advice and support.

      Statements: lecturer exchange incomings

โ€œManyfold contacts with teachers, researchers, librarians, musicians led to the insight that mutual benefits are to be gained from contacts with the Romanian musical life. There is a great demand for results of our research and experience and on the other hand there is a knowledge about the Eastern European (Romanian) musical scene which is also interesting for our practical and historiographical purposes. In addition, the vivid organ scene in Transilvania and the growing interest in organistic practice in the rest of the country deserves our attention and support.โ€ (Excerpt from a final report, Staff Mobility National University of Music Bucharest: Dominik Sackman, Dr., teaches performance practice und music theory at ZHdK.

โ€œThe music of 20th and 21th century should become a crucial part of music education. Regarding this, Zurich music academy represents a huge model.โ€
