    Content and structure

In mentored processes, you will refine your individual artistic profile and showcase it in the graduation project on stage.

    Course content.

You will develop your individual artistic profile and learn in theory and practice how to teach a wide variety of groups in an inclusive manner and carry out projects in the field of music and movement with them. This includes planning and designing lessons for children, adolescents, adults and senior citizens with and without disabilities. Diverse projects throughout the course enable you to get involved in independent practical work.

    Course structure.

    • During the first year of the programme, you will take individual lessons of your choice in singing, an instrument or dance. You will also study and research new musical and intermedial trends in the context of improvisation with your classmates. In the Experimental Laboratory modules, you will explore interdisciplinary working methods with digital media, forms of expression from the theatre, designing objects in the workshops, etc. In the Rhythmics modules, you will examine design processes in the arts.
    • During the second year of the programme, you will study the subject-specific didactics of rhythmics. This takes place in partnership with the University of Teacher Education in Special Needs, incorporating learners of all ages and adopting an inclusive approach. You will teach at therapeutic educational institutions on supervised internships, offer courses for adults and realize projects with children and adolescents.
    • In the third year of the programme, you will complete various thesis assignments and work with senior citizens as part of internships.

    Skills acquired in the course.

Students are actively involved in critical discourse on questions of aesthetics and the arts and develop a reflected approach to music and movement education. They learn how to perceive the people they are dealing with in a differentiated way, react appropriately in their capacity as teachers and supervise them in design and artistic processes.

    Admissions requirements.

To be admitted to the Master’s Major in “Rhythmics”, students must have a completed Bachelor’s degree and pass the entrance examination. The initial degree should ideally be in the field of music and movement, dance, art, education or social work. Basic musical education is essential.
