Programme
Major-Minor Programme Model
In choosing a major, students choose their core subject area. They can choose one or two minors to deepen the competencies acquired in their major or to expand these competencies across disciplines. Alternatively, they can also choose open courses to form an Individual Area of Study (ISB).
Possible minors for this major
Individual Area of Study
Instead of a minor, students can also choose an Individual Area of Study (ISB). Courses chosen as part of an ISB are cross-disciplinary and subject to special admissions requirements. The number of places on such courses is limited.
Degree programmes beginning before the autumn semester of 2023 (BA) or before the autumn semester of 2024 (MA)
Before the autumn semester of 2023, there were eight bachelor's degree programmes and before the autumn semester of 2024, there were eleven master's degree programmes with numerous specializations to choose from. Interdisciplinary options were available in Z-modules and open courses from other subject areas.

Infrastructure
Students at the ZHdK Musik benefit from an excellent infrastructure, live electronics and multimedia, audio productions with in-house sound engineers, historical instrument collections, an extensive equipment pool for loan and an excellent library.
Highlights
Extraordinary musicians: Lecturer Nik Bärtsch and Resident Lecturer 2023 Eivind Aarset
Dynamic duo: a brief portrait of the new lecturers Arthur Hnatek and Mareike Wiening
Every May and September, the jazz and pop students crown their Bachelor's degree with a final concert. The young musicians present their music on the Mehrspur stage with their own band. The concerts can be experienced on site and via livestream.
Events
Fancy the stage? With the “Mehrspur”, Jazz and Pop has its own music club including a bar on the Toni Campus. This provides a stage for all practice-related study modules as well as a parallel public cultural program.
Students, lecturers and alumni together form the ensembles, which repeatedly perform in various formations and projects. The Klub Mehrspur provides insight into the highlights of the music scene: whether unique experimental music lab or internationally successful bands, whether jazz, electro, indie pop, singer songwriter, future pop or soul: the vocabulary is shaped by the ZHdK’s Jazz & Pop profile.
