    Content and structure

    Course content.

    In the Major in โ€œAnalysis and Teachingโ€, you will deepen your subject-specific knowledge and understanding. You will research, analyze, reflect on and describe works, creative and performance processes and their contexts. In parallel, you will study education and subject-specific didactics and develop your own teaching practice in your subject area. The course can be dedicated to music theory, composition, sound art, media composition, music production or improvisation. It also leaves space for individual interests, for which ZHdK provides a wide range of opportunities.

    Course structure.

    You will hone, expand and develop your personal understanding of your subject and the tools required for this. In small group courses, you will study analysis, aesthetics, research methodology, academic writing, educational psychology and subject-specific didactics. In teaching practice, you will train your powers of observation and examine a wide variety of requirements of teaching. You will learn how to prepare, hold and review lessons in creative fields, and will be able to design such classes in response to current challenges.

    Skills acquired in the course.

    You will develop into an independent teacher in the field of creative authorship and will be capable of engaging in aesthetic/critical and artistic discourse in the field of music. You will be familiar with the basics of educational, social and learning psychology. You will be able to place your own thinking in a reflective relationship with that of others. You will be capable of developing different, suitable methods for planning, holding and evaluating contemporary and creative lessons and for dealing with rigidity and blockages related to people and materials Your language and discussion skills will enable you to adopt clear positions with regard to music and draw aesthetic distinctions that go beyond your own attitude to music.

    Admissions requirements.

    You have visions for contemporary teaching and the ability to articulate them. You are committed, have very good musical knowledge and communication skills, and want to be active in an artistic/educational context. You are resilient, you want to make music your profession and you are ready to consolidate all this at a high level and establish and maintain a specialist network.
