Course content.

You will study various forms of electroacoustic music: compositions, performances, music for acoustic instruments and electronics, installations, sound art and intermedial performance formats. On a variety of courses, you will get to grips with sound synthesis techniques, the use of relevant computer programs and programming environments, sound perception and psychoacoustics, as well as generative and interactive sound production. You will learn how to approach electroacoustic music from both a compositional and a performative/improvisational perspective, and will acquire in-depth knowledge of performance practice through the realization and interpretation of your own compositions and works by others.

Course structure.

You will receive individual tuition in the main subject of electroacoustic composition from experienced lecturers with a high artistic profile and group lessons in theoretical and practical compulsory and elective modules. You will develop your own projects, work on internal and external concerts and festivals, take part in interdisciplinary activities and, if you are interested in doing so, will also have the option of assisting with research projects at the Institute for Computer Music and Sound Technology (ICST).

To complete your degree, you will carry out a Master’s project, submit a dossier of work produced during your studies and a written paper on a topic related to contemporary music, and discuss your own artistic standpoint with experts in a colloquium.
