Individual Studies at the Department of Music

    • Individual Studies Area (ISB)
    • Self Composed Minor (SCM)

All music students can choose the Individual Study Area (ISB) and the Minor Self Composed (SCM) to supplement their major. These enable students to study according to their interests and to acquire skills from potentially different areas and disciplines. To this end, students put together modules of a total of 30 credits at their own discretion and choice. The entire cross-disciplinary range of open ZHdK courses, elective courses and other modules are available, provided that the admission requirements are met and places are available.

If only 15 credits are taken in ISB or SCM, a minor comprising 15 credits must also be chosen.

    Individual Studies Area (ISB)

In the Individual Studies Area, students attend courses that are of interest to them for their own development over the course of their studies. The individual studies programme can be completed when 15 or 30 credits have been achieved.

    Self Composed Minor (SCM)

In the Self-Composed Minor, students start with a content-based focus, add courses and/or project work, and conclude the SCM with a reflection on the acquired skills in the scope of 15 or 30 ECTS.
