Programme

Course content.
The Minor Music Physiology Intermediate transmits science-based, musicophysiological principles that help guiding one’s students toward a preventative and sustainable approach to their instrument or voice, enabling them to develop their potential through increased motivation and performance. With supervisory support, students learn to apply these principles both as self-instruction and in a classroom setting. A prerequisite for attending the Minor Music Physiology Intermediate is that students already teach their own students to practically apply the content learned in the Minor.
Another focus is the constructive handling of psychophysical phenomena on stage as a performer and teacher. The minor is offered by the university’s Continuing Education program and can be attended in German and/or English. It is aimed at Bachelor and Master students.

Skills acquired in the course.
Graduates are able to grasp preventive approaches in music education. They are able to apply basic preventive elements and solution strategies of music physiology in teaching situations.

Admissions requirements.
You are enrolled in a degree programme at the Department of Music and have already completed the minor ‘Music Physiology – basic’. You have broad musical skills and an interest in self-reflection.

Language skills required.
You need the following languages to take this minor:
–  German: to be able to follow a discussion
–  German or English: to actively participate in a verbal exchange
–  German: to understand a text
–  German or English: to write a text
