    Assessment of Entry-Level Competencies

    Minor Music Physiology – basic

    Certain entry-level competencies are required as a condition of participation in this minor and are assessed as described below. Information on which majors must complete the assessment can be found in the Music Physiology – basic Minor description (PDF Download).

    Entry-Level Competencies

    Students are proficient in a musical instrument, singing, conducting, or music education subjects at university level and are also able to: 

    • Evaluate information regarding health promotion in music practice 
    • Independently apply and reflect on exercises in the areas of posture, breathing, and movement 

    Entrance assessment

    Students must complete the following tasks for the entrance assessment:

    In the form of a report, students describe their existing practical experience with health promotion in music and reflect on the relevance of topics such as job-specific health risks, prevention, and physiologically sound practice.

    Scope: One A4 page, plus a list of existing practical experience in health promotion in music performance 
    Language: German or English 
    Font: Arial 10 to 12 pt; line spacing 1 ½  

    The document is uploaded to the tool during the minor selection process.

    After reviewing the report, candidates will be invited to a 15-minute interview in which they will be asked questions about their prior knowledge and the relevance of music education and will be given additional explanations.

    Criteria for entrance assessment 

    The following criteria are decisive for the assessment of entry level skills in accordance with the minor registration regulations: 

    • Quality of the report 
    • Relevance to the candidate's own musical practice and, in particular, to music education 
    • Ability to reflect and self-assessment
