Programme
Course content.
On the basis of their own specific research question, students explore the fundamental rules of scientific work and explore suitable research methods with the question in mind.
Possible topic fields include music physiology, skills, motivation, anthropology, social conditions of music-making, instrument development, etc.
The minor is offered by the Music Education profile in collaboration with the Institute for Music Research. It is aimed at Master’s students, and the classes are taught mainly in German.
Skills acquired in the course.
Graduates can talk knowledgeably about an individual research question, analyse text material systematically and hermeneutically; they can illuminate the research status of the respective topic area, select the methodological approach and justify as well as reflect on a research question; they gather data in a controlled manner, evaluate them, prepare them and summarize the findings.
Admissions requirements.
The minor is recommended for students from all majors in the MA Music Pedagogy who are interested in analytical research-focused thought and would like to develop a research question from their own artistic-pedagogical practice and process it in methodological terms.

You need the following languages to take this minor:
– German and English: to be able to follow a discussion
– German and English: to actively participate in a verbal exchange
– German and English: to understand a text
– German and English: to write a text
