In the “Experience Design” minor, students learn the basic methodological skills for designing human-centred digital products, which are then consolidated in case studies and exercises on a continuous basis.

Course

Course content.
Learn methods for designing user-centred applications, products and services. This minor teaches skills that have become indispensable for the design of holistic products, systems and service offerings. Classes are project-based and promote theoretical and practical skills. We will gain insights using quantitative, qualitative and behavioural design research, while employing common methods from systems engineering, service design, user experience design, and design thinking. 

While exploring digital products, we focus on applications for professional users, such as the control and monitoring of machines and systems. “Experience Design” is offered by the subject area Industrial Design.

Skills acquired in the course.
The minor focuses on the conceptualization and design of holistic experiences at the intersection of human needs, business requirements, and technical feasibility.

Admissions requirements.
The “Experience Design” minor is open to all students at ZHdK and is recommended for students with a keen interest in people and technology. Ideally, at the time of starting the minor, you will already have completed the low-level workshop introduction, including 3D printing and laser cutting. Specific admission requirements for the minor are checked by means of a self-declaration.

You need the following languages to take this minor:
