Over the course of four semesters, students work on their individual Master’s project in one of six majors. In addition to major-specific tuition, theoretical and practical modules with other majors are offered.

    Major

Students choose one of six majors for their design specialization and research-oriented qualification as part of their four semesters of full-time study.

    - Game Design: In the Master’s Major in Game Design, you will focus on practical, future-oriented scientific topics and the technology of computer-controlled games and analyse (game) cultures.

    - Industrial Design: The Master’s Major in Industrial Design offers an experimental and practice-oriented design space that enables students to explore the role of design and technology in a social context.

    - Interaction Design: Inspired by the connections between people, objects and the environment, you will explore practical and scientific research methods and processes in the Master’s Major in Interaction Design, and then use them to implement innovative projects with a wide range of technologies.

    - Knowledge Visualization: In the Master’s Major in Knowledge Visualization, you will learn how to create images in scientific knowledge processes. Moreover, you will explore visualization and communication concepts, 3D technologies and imaging processes.

    - Trends & Identity: Diagnose specific change processes and new trends in the Master’s Major in Trends & Identity: Systematically explore visions of the future with innovative approaches and methods, investigate current issues of identity, daily life and living environments, and develop future-oriented design projects.

    - Visual Communication: In the Master’s Major in Visual Communication, you will design in an exploratory, future-driven manner, and develop new insights, methods and/or aesthetics.

    Design interdisciplinary

In the interdisciplinary module area, students gain an overview of various methods that are relevant for contemporary design research. In addition, basic skills can be acquired.

    Mobility

A maximum of one semester can be completed at another foreign university that is deemed compatible with the Master’s programme of the ZHdK.
