Cultural Critique
The creation of spaces for debate in museums, cultural institutions, public spaces and the media connects the fields of practice of Cultural Critique. The practice-oriented Masterโs degree programme prepares students for a challenging job at the interface between the arts and society.
Master
In the Master's degree programme in Cultural Critique, students acquire skills and professional qualifications for curatorial, mediating, journalistic and communicative activities at the interfaces of art, culture, society and the public sphere. The programme is aimed at students with a Bachelor's degree who wish to deepen their knowledge, reflect and develop theory in fields such as museology, cultural and media studies. The Major programmes Curatorial Studies and Cultural Publishing provides students with practice-oriented knowledge in the contexts of museums, cultural institutions, public space and media and enables them to critically examine and expand existing professional and practical fields. Since autumn 2024, the Master-Minors Curatorial Practice, Cultural Analysis in the Arts, Creative Writing and Self-Composed also offer individual approaches to Cultural Critique.
Major-Minor Programme Model
At ZHdK, students choose a Major. In addition to this core subject, they can choose one or two Minors to deepen or expand their major skills and knowledge across various disciplines. This wide choice of courses is unique in Europe and enables students to develop and sharpen their individual profile.
