Course

Course content.
Students learn about documentary and essayistic methods in films. In the “Cinematic Essay” minor, students have an opportunity to develop film topics and forms using their own artistic expression, and implement them in initial experimental designs. During the working process, both content and form can change continuously, as cinematic essay is essentially a research practice.
The individually tailored working process introduces students to the field of filmmaking in an engaging way. Both the conceptual and editing phases are accompanied by methodological input and individual mentoring sessions. Students aim to present and reflect on their film work as a group. The entire development process is documented in the form of a written reflection, which is a medium for students to further develop their own creative processes and opportunities.
