    Educational Objectives

    In the Major in Teaching Art students strive for and create diverse connections between their studies and the professional practices. Engaging with these reference fields enables them to develop their artistic/pedagogical practices within and for specific contexts and conduct demanding educational tasks with a high level of proficiency. Research-oriented approaches to art and pedagogy form the basis of the students’ training, which enables them to critically reflect on and contribute to transformations in the field of art teaching.

    Degree title:
    Master of Arts ZHdK in Art Education with a Major in Teaching Art and Teaching Diploma "Lehrdiplom für Maturitätsschulen, Fach Bildende Kunst"

    Potential areas of employment

    With the nationally recognized “Lehrdiplom für Maturitätsschulen, Fach Bildende Kunst", the Major in “Teaching Art” qualifies graduates to teach at secondary school level (Gymnasium and Fachmittelschule). 

    Graduates from the Major in “Teaching Art” can pursue a PhD program within or outside of ZHdK (i.e. Didactics of Art & Design PhD program, which enables students to deepen their research in art and education and allows them to potentially follow an academic career.
