The curricular CAS and DAS continuing education courses in the field of Music Education offer students different ways to consolidate, supplement or extend their own artistic work.
The skills acquired and extended in the continuing education degree programme are underscored, summarized and rounded off with the professional qualification, “Master of Advanced Studies (MAS) in Extended Music Education”.
Participants are expected to speak German for this degree.

Content

Holders of the “Master of Advanced Studies (MAS) in Extended Music Education” degree demonstrate a personal connection to the field in which they completed their course of studies and present a paper that comprehensively outlines and explores a theoretical and/or practical focus related to the music education field in which they work.

Structure

The MAS degree runs for one semester. Students who complete it successfully are awarded a “Master of Advanced Studies" (MAS). Within the scope of the MAS module, every candidate completes a practical project, writes 30–40 pages of supporting documentation and presents the practical project and MAS thesis in a presentation with subsequent colloquium.

A total of eight mentoring hours are available for the MAS module. These can be used to supervise the practical project and/or the written documentation. The choice of mentor(s) is based on individual needs and is determined in consultation with the Head of the Continuing Education Music.

Eligibility and admission requirements

Students cannot take the “Master of Advanced Studies in Extended Music Education (MAS)” until they have usually completed at least three CAS degree programmes, at least two of which must be in the field of Music Education. Students may choose the first two CAS courses. The other CAS courses are discussed with the Head of Continuing Education Music. The respective lecturers teaching the major and the Head of Continuing Education in Music decide on admission.
Participants are expected to speak German for this degree.
