    Leadership skills for strategic designers and creative leaders

    Design Leadership focuses on a dynamic understanding of organizations and leadership, placing humans centre stage. Agile approaches, collaborative methods and a design-oriented mindset create the basis in order to tackle complex processes. Participants in the CAS learn how to apply contemporary leadership styles, enhance their leadership profile and expand their capacity to act.

    The CAS Design Leadership is completed over a period of five months. It consists of a total of seven teaching modules, each lasting three days. Participants study certain aspects of leadership of their choice in greater depth in an individual dissertation. Their results and experiences will feed into a joint Design Leadership publication.

    Target audience

    The CAS Design Leadership programme is intended for people in any role or sector who specifically want to enrich their leadership and responsibility competence with design-based approaches and methods and thereby further enhance their own profile.

    • Designers and creative individuals who are already in leadership roles and are seeking a better grounding and increased confidence
    • Project or team leaders in different sectors who want to introduce innovative approaches, methods and instruments into their management activities
    • Managers with a broad remit who see design as a key driver in changing corporate culture and want to acquire specific expertise in organizational transformation processes

    Positioning

    In the context of the MAS Strategic Design, the CAS Design Leadership is characterised in particular by the interlocking of a dedicated design approach with the teaching of contemporary leadership styles and new forms of collaboration. The programme is particularly suitable for people who want to sharpen their individual leadership profile and develop a keen sense for situational action in different organisational cultures.

    Know Yourself โ€“ Develop an awareness of yourself and your own value system, and an understanding of how these influence your own positioning and strategic behaviour.

    Master Tools โ€“ Gain a broad knowledge of the concepts, methods and other instruments which help with strategic decision-making and support the required processes.

    Shape Experiences โ€“ Build up expertise in aesthetic and experience-based elements and their influence on, and interaction in, the implementation of strategic decisions.

    Enable People โ€“ Empower third parties by the clever application of collaborative and communication skills.

    Navigate Complexity โ€“ Learn how to handle complex systems and about contextual relationships and how these can be influenced by interventions.

    Transform Organizations โ€“ Learn about the idiosyncrasies of organizations and other communities.

    Understand technology โ€“ Raise awareness of the potential of technological developments and their direct interaction with cultural aspects of everyday life.

    Dates

    The CAS Design Leadership starts anually in February/March and lasts until July. A maximum of 25 participants will be accepted. The languages of instruction are German and English.

    Cost

    CHF 8800.โ€“ (plus CHF 200.โ€“ application feee)

    Additional costs of max. CHF 800.โ€“ per participant will be incurred for the offsite event in the third teaching module. These are to be paid by the course participants directly on site.
