    Theme block I: Explore

    Module 1

Imagination as the basis for thinking about the future
    Class of 2026: Thurs–Sat, 5.–7.3.2026

Get introduced to the course and the inspiring environment of the Toni-Areal. Learn about the social relevance of future thinking and the role of imagination and visionary thinking for futures literacy. Learn to overcome limiting thought patterns, understand different time dimensions and recognise future signals. Strengthen the ability to react flexibly to the unexpected through exercising practical improvisation.

    Module 2

    Futures Thinking process in practice
    Class of 2026: Mon–Wed, 23.–25.3.2026

Apply a holistic Futures Thinking process based on a real task. Analyse signals and drivers of change in group work and run through a complete futures thinking process. This involves a critical reflection of the belief in technological progress, taking into account social, ethical and historical perspectives. Let the insights gained flow into initial considerations for the individual practical projects.

    Theme block II: Experience

    Module 3

    Make futures tangible and negotiable
    Class of 2026: Thurs-Sat, 9.–11.4.2026

Design and communicate future scenarios by using methods such as prototyping, AI-supported visualisation, speculative design and storytelling. Learn how to create convincing experiential spaces and make visions of the future tangible and negotiable. Use analogue approaches, digital tools and body-based methods in order to manifest abstract ideas and inspire other people with desirable visions of the future.

    Module 4

    Future insights through strategic foresight
    Class of 2026: Mon–Tues, 11.–12.5.2026

Regulate scientific findings about the future and their significance for your own organisational context. Use strategic foresight and backcasting to anticipate upcoming changes to products, business models and customer needs and make the right decisions today.

    Theme block III: Activate

    Module 5

Activation and facilitation of change processes
    Class of 2026: Thurs–Sat, 4.–6.6.2026

Recognise the emotional and social dimension of future work. Understand the concept of safe and brave spaces as the basis for courageous change processes. Deepen your facilitation skills and learn to activate yourself, others and organisations effectively. In doing so, you reflect on your own role as future agents and develop pragmatic approaches to implementing change projects.

    Module 6

    Organisational anchoring and strategic transformation
    Class of 2026: Mon–Tues, 15.–16.6.2026

Translating visions of the future and foresight insights into current strategy work. Participants learn to use strategic design methods to derive concrete steps for action in the present and develop organisational transformation vehicles for a desirable future.

    Module 7

    Future workshop, reflection, and outlook
    Class of 2026: Thurs–Fri, 2.–3.7.2026

Present your practical project and reflect jointly about what has been learnt. The course concludes with a future workshop and the awarding of certificates, which also opens the door to further development as a future agent.

    (Subject to change)

    Proof of learning achievement

Parallel to the CAS, the participants carry out a future intervention in form of an event or workshop. In the role of future agent, they design and moderate a process in which they think about the future together with a group in order to learn for the present. This can take place in their own organisation or in a community.

    Workload for the certificate thesis
The workload for the certificate of achievement depends on the scope of the intervention. However, at least three days will be needed for the preparation, implementation and follow-up. Furthermore, please count two days to prepare the final presentation and the documentation.
