    Marit Mihklepp

Marit Mihklepp was born on the shores of the Baltic Sea, where the water is fresh rather than salty. Through her work with photography, text, video and small-scale sculptures, she brings our mineral and microbial companions, as well as the tangibility of deep time, to the fore.

Mihklepp has exhibited her work at SÍM Korpúlstaðir (Reykjavik, IS), the RADIUS Centre of Contemporary Art and Ecology (Delft, NL), Pianpicollo Selvatico (Levice, IT) and the Tallinn Botanical Garden (Tallinn, EE). In recent years, Mihklepp has led workshops on collective movement and writing with stones in Amsterdam, Leipzig and Zurich. She is currently focusing on her PhD project, in which she is researching three meteorite impact sites and their effects on landscape and language.

Mihklepp studied Textile Design (BA) at the Estonian Academy of Arts in Tallinn, EE, and Interdisciplinary Art (MMus) at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague, NL. She is currently a PhD candidate in the joint programme run by Zurich University of the Arts and the University of Art and Design Linz.
