Die Filme der Künstlerin und Filmemacherin Beatrice Gibson sind für ihre experimentelle und gefühlsbetonte Art bekannt. Sie erforschen das Persönliche und das Politische und beziehen sich auf Kultfiguren der experimentellen Literatur und Poesie – von Kathy Acker bis Gertrude Stein – und werden oft von Freunden und Einflüssen bevölkert, wobei sie ko-kreative Prozesse und Ideen zitieren und einbeziehen. This lecture imagines feeling as fact, exploring the emotional as a radical and critical category in the context of contemporary art and experimental cinema.
Artist and filmmaker Beatrice Gibson’s films are known for their experimental and emotive nature. Exploring the personal and the political and drawing on cult figures from experimental literature and poetry – from Kathy Acker to Gertrude Stein – they are often populated by friends and influences, citing and incorporating co-creative processes and ideas. Recent exhibitions include Camden Arts Centre, London, Bergen Kunsthal, Bergen Mercer Union, Toronto (2019) and KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Berlin, (2018). Her films have shown at film festivals around the word, including at New York Film Festival, Toronto International Film Festival, London Film Festival, Oberhausen Film Festival, Courtisane Film Festival, Punto De Vista International Documentary Film Festival and many more. Her latest film premiered at Quinzaine (Directors Fortnight) Cannes Film Festival 2019.
