    Lecture Shimabuku

    Shimabuku (born Kobe, Japan, 1969 lives in Berlin since 2004) is dedicated to exploring the natural world and human culture through installation, video, drawings and sculpture. Shimabuku urges viewers to reform the way that they perceive and respond to the world that surrounds us.

    Shimabuku's work has been exhibited internationally at the São Paulo Biennial, 2006; Venice Biennale, 2003; group exhibition at Pompidou Center in Paris and the Hayward gallery in London. Recent solo exhibitions include Flying Me, Kunsthalle Bern, Switzerland, 2014; Something that Floats / Something that Sinks, Ikon Gallery, Birmingham, 2013; and Noto, 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa, Japan, 2013. In 2014 Shimabuku participated in City and Nature, Sapporo International Art Festival 2014, Japan and The Great Acceleration, Art in the Anthropocene, Taipei Biennial 2014, Taiwan.
