Anora Ismailova is a theatre director born in 2000 in Tashkent. She began her artistic journey at the youth theatre “LIK” in her hometown. After studying journalism at Lomonosov University in Moscow completed an acting program at the Ilkhom Theatre of Mark Weil in Tashkent. In 2022 was admitted to the Bachelor’s program in Theatre Directing at the Zurich University of the Arts, where she continues her studies. Her artistic work spans a range of formats, from site-specific performances to musical and movement-based adaptations of literary texts. Recent projects include The Metamorphosis (after Kafka), Absence (based on Roland Barthes), The Overcoat (after Gogol) and Rhinoceros (after Ionesco). In 2025, she assisted on Mitosis – an LSD Opera by Brandy Butler (Theater Gessnerallee Zurich, Kaserne Basel) and The Last Summer by Bernhard Mikeska (Hotel Waldhaus Sils).
