BIOGRAPHY
Stepan was born in Czech Republic where he also began his dance education. Before joining Zurich Dance Academy in 2022 he studied at Dance Conservatory of the Capital City of Prague for 5 years and in 2025 he finished his matura exams at Prague Dance Conservatory.

Q&A WITH ŠTĚPÁN JAN ŠPIČKA
What does dance mean to you?
- Dance is an art form through which I am able to fully express what and how I feel. In my opinion it’s also a way to soothe one’s emotions. For me it's some sort of a therapy.

What memory will you take with you from your time at ZHdK?
- There isn’t one specific memory that would stick out rather than a certain period that I am going to remember. I was injured a lot while studying at TaZ and I will always remember how supportive everyone around me was. Thanks to all the people who helped me get through this difficult period I am still able to pursue my dreams.

Which work or choreographer particularly inspires you, and why?
- I enjoyed working on a choreography called “SANG MÊLÉ” by Julieta Martínez. This piece taught me what is it like to push through total exhaustion on stage for which I will be forever thankful.
